Google Announces Termination of Adsense App for iOS and Android
Google has always been in the limelight for introducing and shutting down apps and services. The tech giant, who has already killed Google Allo, Google Jump, YouTube Gaming, Google+, and Project Tango closure, is now discontinuing Adsense for Android and iOS solution.
Adsense lets marketers and publishers place an advertisement on their websites easily and effortlessly. It has been empowering them to check for vital stats like page views and revenue generated straight from their smartphone, through Adsense application.
But, with Google’s decision of killing its service on Android and iOS platforms, the scenario will change.
The mobile application for Adsense on both platforms will be replaced by a mobile web app.
And the reason behind is that the users, who are relying on both web and mobile interface for accessing this service, are experiencing a drastic difference in user experience between the two platforms.
By replacing mobile apps with a web platform that works efficiently on both desktop and mobile, the tech giant is hoping to deliver a common experience to both – without compromising at the speed, quality, and other user experience centric factors.
And for making it possible, they are embracing the concept of Progressive Web Applications (PWAs).
While there’s a lot about what Google wants you to know about PWAs, let’s give you a brief look back summary here.
Progressive Web Applications (PWAs)
A PWA (Progressive Web Application) is an application that enables you to enjoy the best features of both native and web platform. It comes with an app icon, is easily installable, and employs native device features such as push notifications, offline accessibility, and faster updates.
The process of PWA development entails the creation of apps that runs on browsers and are not available on app stores.
Now, although the team has not shared any specific time frame about the shutdown of Google Adsense for iOS and Android, it is expected to happen by the end of 2019. And until then, the team of Google engineers will be working upon bringing improvements to their Adsense mobile web interface.
So, for now, we will have to wait until the end of this year to see whether the outcome of this action will be fruitful to all or not.
