We, At Appinventiv believe that a design sprint process is fundamental to the development of any digital product. We have kicked off multiple end to end projects and witnessed tangible results by following this methodology.
Empathy lies at the core of our business values. We view the world through the eyes of our customers in order to understand their problems firsthand. We always strive to diversify our understanding and believe in having a holistic outlook to counter any big challenges.
We lay a lot of emphasis on originality. Each person on the project team thinks independently and suggests insights which are valued and always taken into consideration. Through a series of creative exercises, we unravel unique insights and arrive at a perspective synergistically.
We believe in reason and logic to arrive at potentially viable solutions. And we achieve that through rigorous experimentation, testing and strongly adhering to qualitative/quantitative measures every step of the way.
We have come to realize the numerous benefits of Design Thinking and therefore do not limit it to our Design sprint process. This holistic approach helps us in facilitating other components of the development process.
A Product Design Sprint is a 5 phase brainstorming exercise spread across 5 days. The end goal is to develop a product into a functionally designed prototype. This provides clarity to the entire team and guarantees success at the end of the development process.
Knowledge sharing and developing a shared understanding are our key priorities. Our first step is to initiate the development process by setting the right foundation for the project team. So Mondays are about enhancing the understanding of your problem and mapping the problem areas. We discover and learn more about your business, clients, value proposition and arrive on the main goal collectively. Consequently, the discussion leads to an effective roadmap of the sprint. By the end of Monday, we not only identify all the probable risks and assumptions but formulate a game plan on how to eliminate them.
The goal for the second day is to shape abstract ideas into a concrete idea that serves as a building block for the prototype. On Tuesdays, we review old ideas, look for inspiration and get insights to build new solutions. By the end of the day, through brainstorming sessions and a series of creative exercises, we sketch detailed ideas on paper and identify all the potentially viable solutions.
After tracing out a bunch of ideas in the previous two phases, it is time to review the potential solutions. Wednesdays are about deciding which ideas work and which do not. We critique each solution keeping in mind the main goal.Through structured decision making processes, we arrive at a final solution that will be developed into a prototype. By the end of Wednesday, we lay down a realistic storyboard that acts as a roadmap for building the prototype.
Knowledge sharing and developing a shared understanding are our key priorities. The fourth phase is turning previously generated ideas, sketches and blueprints into a tangible prototype that can be tested with real users. So on Thursdays, we gather the right tools and build an almost realistic facade to jump to the final step.
The foremost and final phase of the design sprint process is to test the prototype with real and existing users to generate feedback. This phase validates your solutions before you kickstart developing an actual product. So on Fridays, we learn how the user interacts with the prototype and filter out what works for you and what does not.

Design Sprint works on the premise of validating potential solutions with real users in just a few days. During a Sprint, ideas are exchanged, solutions are outlined and a clickable prototype is developed by the end of the week. Follow the the understand, diverge, converge, prototype and test approach to find answers to the most pressing concerns.
It is ideal to conduct a Design Sprint when you have a rough idea for an innovative product in mind, or an existing product in the market and you are keen to identify pain points in order to improve it, or you want to move beyond key functionality and tap on new features to enhance your product. A Design Sprint is ideal for Startups and Enterprises alike to assess the gaps in the process and overcome roadblocks.
Assembling the right team is a prerequisite to run an effective Design Sprint. Since Sprint is a group brainstorming workshop, the key ingredient here is a cross-functional team(a team that represents everyone). A Sprint team involves all the key executives- Product Manager, Tech Lead, Design Strategists, Facilitator and a Decider. A Decider takes most of the decisions in a Design Sprint.

Design Sprint is a collaborative effort and generates maximum value when all the key executives participate and share their unique insights. A lot of creative brainstorming exercises are conducted in a span of five days to arrive at potential solutions. It is important for everyone to be present in the Sprint to contribute to the combined effort but the one person that needs to be present on all 5 days is the Decider. A Decider has the most say on important matters and takes crucial decision in the Sprint.
A Scoping session is the initial interaction where the project roadmap is outlined and the scope of the project is assessed. Whereas, in a Design Sprint, a clickable prototype is developed rapidly to validate assumptions with users and observe how the user interacts with the product. A Design Sprint is conducted to garner user feedback while a Scoping session is done to outline the project scope.
Scoping Session generates value and facilitates knowledge sharing. We go through all aspects of project planning to provide you a functionally designed application.
